Best breakfast food I ever had, read the reviews based on the 1s as usual but was shockingly surprised, got a lot of food, great service, and fast, definitely will eat again!

A lot of places have had to change their business model due to COVID 19, unfortunately Kate's model doesn't make a lot of sense. They have an outside eating area, but not a server that works it. Instead, you order "take out" and eat at picnic tables. There is no follow up from the waitress, I'd your drink runs out, that's it. Your food is brought out in styrofoam containers and and you are then left alone. There were four of us, so we had a wide variety of food in our order. None of it was anything to write home about, including the pancakes. The waffles were good. I enjoyed the coffee.

Heck yeah, breakfast is the best. They close super early, so be warned. Also took a star off because when you stand in line to pay it's right across from the bathrooms which have a nonstop line. And they smelled HORRIBLE just standing there. But otherwise great food.

Great food! I highly recommend the Sweet Potato pancake and the home fries. Both were flavors I didn't expect and we really delicious!

Been coming here every year on my visit to Carolina beach. The place is always packed, but well worth the wait if you have one. Staff is friendly and prompt. I got the eggs florentine. The potatoes were a little undercooked this time. Biggest down5here is there is no Heinz ketchup, a staple to a good breakfast.

A little disappointed in the experience. Quaint place located in the middle of Carolina Beach. Our party of five arrived between 10-11 and there was a bit of a wait. Parking lot for the restaurant is small so be prepared for the possibility of metered parking. Service was reasonable considering the establishment was full to the brim. They offer a variety of unique pancake options. I ordered the short stack and Little Pink skillet. The pancakes were average and skillet was good.

Great location and well priced food. We appreciated that they had outdoor seating. The pancakes were delicious, the cinnamon rolls were underwhelming and the grits were some of the worst I have had. We may have just ordered the wrong thing because the food we saw looked good. Our waiter was very attentive and kind, although it was obvious that there was tension between workers there. Overall good experience and we’d stop by again!

Great service, friendly servers & most importantly good food. Everyone was helpful and they covered their parking lot with tent with picnic tables to enforce social distancing.

Probably the best breakfast I’ve had. There’s so much on the menus to pick from and EVERYTHING is amazing! The service was great and our waitress Kat was so nice! Highly recommend!

A diner kind of vibe with some heavenly, and super sweet pancakes. We were quickly seated but I can see this place being very busy and have a very long wait during peak season. A local kind of place with a hometown feel and plenty of food to fill your gut.Our waitress was taking our order within a minutes of us being seated and she knew the menu backwards and forwards. We ordered the tofu skillet and my son ordered the Boston Cream Pie pancakes. Oh, and a biscuit...Everything came out as ordered and pretty darn quick and cooked perfectly. The skillets were the perfect size. Layered with potatoes and veggies, and toped with a protein (I opted for black bean burger versus tofu). Kind of a weird dish at a place like this but they did an amazing job. My son dug into the pancakes like there was no tomorrow. He made it through one and threw in the towel. I think it was too sweet for even him.

I can't say enough great things about this place! Everything is great! The greatest part of all are the staff and owner! Anytime I'm in Carolina Beach or close by, this will be a regular place for me to eat!

Great place for breakfast! Food and service are great. Prices are affordable. They have various omelettes and special pancakes you can order. My family enjoyed their food.

Kate's is the best breakfast place in Wilmington. The food is fantastic. The staff genuinely cares about their customers and ensures that they have a great experience. There aren't many restaurants left that truly cares about their customers.

Amazing! We got our food to-go during COVID19 and it was so good! They got everything right, gave us extras and we are so pleased!

Had breakfast here twice last weekend when staying at Carolina Beach. Well prepared, delicious breakfast with good service. Mystery, why did they accept my AMEX card on Friday morning, but refuse to accept AMEX on Sunday morning. Irritating!!

One of our favorite breakfast places in Carolina Beach. We live in Southport and this place is worth the ferry ride over to the island! Frequently bring visitors and friends here for the experience. I love that the owner jumps in and works too when it is busy. Might have a wait, but it is 100% worth it. Cheap prices for amazing taste!

This place was just okay. The service was great. The food was mediocre. It was very busy, but the food was out fast. The best thing on the menu was the pancakes. The Cajun chicken omelet wasn’t good. The rest of our group had variations of the eggs Benedict. The crab cake was under done on on one. The classic was just okay, the sauce is not homemade. Overall, it’s a cute place with good customer service, but the menu is too large and the food wasn’t anything special.

Somehow in all our years coming to Carolina Beach we've never made it to Kate's. Now that we have we know exactly what we've been missing! The pancakes were absolutely perfect and the other dishes were just as good. I had the tofu skillet and it was truly delicious. The place was crazy busy when we got here but the service was exceptional we never went 5 minutes without being checked on and our food came out quickly. Excellent experience, we will definitely be back.

This will be my go to breakfast spot. Everything was wonderful, staff was excellent. Due to restrictions, seating is limited so go early or suffer a little wait time. There is outside covered seating which is nice.

We were most excited to have a terrific breakfast in this establishment, BUT, the hostess sat us in the first table of a limited dining room by the door. Initially, we were ok for a short time until multiple people started coming in back and forth. We kindly requested to the hostess if we could be moved. She said give me a minute. She then proceeded to bring in multiple tables. We spoke with our server to ask, once again, to be moved, to which she said the restaurant was full and people were waiting. Both my husband and myself have been in the restaurant business, so we know procedures. Server was most pleasant and did her best. Hostess was rude and not at all accommodating. We do not live in the area, so we will not be back. 7/28/2020.

Overall liked this place. Went for breakfast on a holiday weekend. Line was long but efficient. Ordered the eggs Benedict which was cooked to perfection, half Belgium Waffle on the side. Waitress was affable and fun to chat with. Only complaint is that they serve generic ketchup!?!

The food at Kate’s Pancake House tastes amazing. She has many original pancakes such as the Caribbean Pleasure pancake, or the Sweet Potato Bliss pancake. Kate herself has her secret grits recipe that are better than any grits you’ve ever had before. Of course, Kate’s Pancake House has more than just pancakes they have healthy options, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and waffles. All of the people that work at Kate’s are incredibly kind and Kate herself will make sure you had a great meal. We go on vacation to the island that Kate’s is on and eat breakfast there every morning for the entire vacation. The portions are more than enough so we eat them for lunch too! I one hundred percent recommend trying Kate’s!

Great food, great service, decent prices! Wish we found this place earlier in our stay. Enough variety for daily visits. Sausage gravy was amazing!

My wife and I were honestly pretty surprised that this place wasn't THAT amazing based on all the fantastic reviews! We both got some basic breakfast items; eggs, bacon, and french toast. All of it tasted just... average. You could get a better breakfast at IHOP. When we were sitting down eating, after 5 minutes in we both kind of looked at each other and said: "that's it?". Based on the 1,000+ reviews and 4.5+ star average I was just expecting more. It was very very average and we personally won't be going back.

Cold food, bad service. Gulfstream was a much better choice

The pancakes were great! We got the big breakfast so we could try a little of everything and shrimp and grits because of how close we were to the shore. Everything was so good!

Great food minus the (boiled potato slices advertised as home fries😕) Hostess was not attentive to our party and it wasn't until we asked for seating that we finally got called over to a section. Waitress was very pleasant and easily one of the friendliest servers I've had. Place is extremely busy obviously, but not crowded like you would feel in like Whitehouse Breakfast on Dock St. Overall the food and one waitress made up for the outdated atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant and un attentive hostess.

The food and the service are exceptional. We ate here twice this week. Look no further for a good place, a great place to have breakfast. My only disappointment is that they don't offer Real maple syrup.

Absolutely amazing. Took a group of 8 here, only waited about 20 minutes on a holiday weekend and had excellent service even though they were busy. Ms Lisa was very helpful and nice! The veggie omelette, home fries and sweet potato pancakes are my recommendations!

While I know this places namesake has pancakes in it, this place also boasts the best omlette that I have had in a long time. It packs out early, and for good reason. You basically can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu here, and the staff is very personable and on point. Certainly part of any great Carolina Beach experience.

Don't even understand what the fuss about this place is. They know how to cook eggs. Other than that, not impressed at all. Eggs Benedict with steak was ordered but I don't know why they even asked how we wanted it cooked if they were just going to cook it way over well done anyway. We weren't checked on during the 35 minutes between ordering and the food arriving to the table. We were one of 5 tables and the wait for our food was longer than it should have been. People arrived after us and got their food before us and they ordered as much if not more than we did. Also the teenage hosts were staring at us, standing around talking and didn't really look happy about being there. Waited a long time to go there and was disappointed.

So good we had to go back twice for a delicious breakfast! They had a wonderful assortment of breakfast foods, even country cured ham! Service was excellent and portions were definately for hungry customers! We will most certain be going back, and next time trying out their lunch/dinner menu!

Meh. Want to be supportive, think it's great to have outdoor seating...but very disorganized. People who got seated after I put in my order got their food first....didnt get utensils with my to go order.... food was just OK. Really wanted to like it.

Kate's is a must stop when at Carolina Beach. Food and service is amazing! Ive taken a picture of my most recent pick, the California omlette with grits and side banana walnut pancakes. Yum!

My family and I were on vacation last week in Topsail Island, NC. I saw their ad and REALLY wanted to try this restaurant. Well, I'm so glad we did! This place is AH-MAZING! Everything we had was great and had absolutely no complaints. We didn't have a long wait, waitress was great and quick with drinks and food. This business complied with all necessary COVID protocols. All employees and customers wore masks (if you didn't have one, they are available for purchase), hand sanitizer was readily available, and partitions have been placed between tables. It was worth the hour drive to eat breakfast and I would do it again. I highly recommend this place! If you do, be sure to try their special flavored pancakes; they have a variety. I, myself, tried the Boston Creme pancakes and they were good. They do have a large menu with LOTS to choose from so be sure to glance at it before arriving ;)

Did take out on a Thur morning. Phone was busy so I just walked over to order. They have their parking lot converted to a party tent and picnic tables to accommodate distancing. You can order at the tent. Food was delicious and a real treat for everyone. Staff was not wearing masks or gloves outside, if that is important.
